Sensor FE 40 operates with infra-red light. It detects the web edge by scanning. This sensor is characterized by its high sensitivity with transparent webs and by its immunity to variations of transparency and ambient light.

The digital infrared edge sensor with a CCD line chip detects very precisely the position of web edges of homogeneous, opaque webs such as paper, nonwovens, rubber, tire cord, wovens and knits. Transmitter and receiver are located in the same housing, there is no mechanical connection between sensor and reflector.
